Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 15, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Awasero Digital Solutions Inc. ("SplitMinder," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you use the SplitMinder mobile application, the SplitMinder website, and the SplitMinder professional portal for attorneys and other practitioners (together, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Who We Are
SplitMinder is operated by Awasero Digital Solutions Inc. We are the controller of personal information processed through the Service. For privacy questions or to exercise your rights, contact us at privacy@splitminder.com.
2. Information We Collect
Information you provide
- Account details: name, email address, and (if you choose) phone number and profile photo.
- Co-parenting and expense data you enter: expense descriptions, amounts, categories, split percentages, notes, disputes, and child-support entries.
- For the professional portal: organization/firm name, member details, and the case information attorneys or practitioners create (including the email addresses of the co-parents they invite).
- Communications you send us (support requests, feedback).
Financial account information (via Plaid)
If you connect a bank account, we use Plaid Inc. to establish a read-only connection. Through Plaid we receive transaction history (merchant, amount, date, description), account balances, and account metadata (such as the last four digits and account type). We never receive or store your bank login credentials, and we cannot move money or initiate transactions. Your use of Plaid is also governed by Plaid's End User Privacy Policy.
Payment information
Paid subscriptions (currently for the professional portal) are processed by Stripe. Stripe collects and processes your payment card details directly; we do not store full card numbers. We receive limited billing data such as subscription status and the last four digits of the card.
Biometric authentication
If you enable Face ID, Touch ID, or fingerprint/face unlock, that biometric data is stored and processed entirely on your device by your operating system. SplitMinder never receives, sees, or stores your biometric data.
Device and usage information
We automatically collect limited technical data such as device type, operating system, app version, IP address, and basic usage and diagnostic information to operate and secure the Service.
3. How We Use Your Information
- Provide, maintain, and secure the Service and your account.
- Import, categorize, and display your transactions and shared expenses.
- Enable expense sharing and settlement between you and your co-parent.
- Enable the professional portal so an authorized attorney or practitioner connected to your case can view the shared expense records relevant to that case.
- Process subscriptions and payments.
- Send transactional messages (e.g., invitations, account and security notices).
- Provide support, prevent fraud and abuse, and comply with legal obligations.
- Improve and develop features.
4. Automated Categorization (AI)
To help categorize transactions, we may send transaction text (such as merchant name and description) to a third-party AI provider (Anthropic) acting as our processor. This is used only to suggest categories; it does not make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects, and you can review and change any categorization. We do not send your bank credentials or full account numbers for this purpose.
5. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share information only as follows:
- With your co-parent: only the expenses and records you classify as shared. Personal or unshared transactions are never visible to your co-parent.
- With a connected professional (portal): if you accept an invitation to a case, the attorney or practitioner's organization can view the shared expense records for that case for mediation, settlement, or court-related purposes. They cannot see your personal/unshared transactions or bank credentials.
- Service providers (sub-processors): vendors that operate the Service on our behalf, listed below.
- Legal and safety: when required by law, subpoena, or to protect rights, safety, or the integrity of the Service.
- Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.
- With your consent: for any other purpose disclosed to you.
6. Our Sub-Processors
We rely on these providers to operate the Service:
- Supabase — database, authentication, and backend hosting.
- Plaid — secure bank account connections (read-only).
- Stripe — subscription billing and payment processing.
- Resend — transactional email delivery.
- Anthropic — AI-assisted transaction categorization.
- Cloudflare — website hosting, content delivery, and security.
Each provider is bound by contractual obligations to protect your information and use it only to provide services to us.
7. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information within a commercially reasonable period, except where retention is required by law. Note that records you shared with a co-parent or a connected professional may remain part of that shared case history.
8. Data Security
We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information, including:
- Encryption of data in transit (TLS) and at rest.
- Row-level access controls so users and organizations can only access their own data.
- Read-only bank connections; we never store bank login credentials.
- Access restrictions and authentication safeguards.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, port, or restrict processing of your personal information, and to object to certain processing or withdraw consent. You can:
- Access and update most data directly in the app.
- Delete your account and associated personal data from the app's account settings.
- Request a copy of your data or exercise other rights by emailing privacy@splitminder.com.
- Opt out of non-essential marketing communications at any time.
California residents (CCPA/CPRA): you have the right to know, delete, and correct your personal information, and to opt out of "sale" or "sharing" — note that we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
EEA/UK residents (GDPR): we process your information under legal bases including performance of our contract with you, your consent, our legitimate interests, and legal obligations. You may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. International transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
10. Children's Privacy
The Service is intended for adults (18+) and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). Although expense records may reference children (e.g., a child's activity), those records are entered by the co-parents who use the Service; we do not knowingly collect a child's own personal information. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact privacy@splitminder.com and we will delete it.
11. International Users
We are based in the United States and process information there and with our sub-processors. If you access the Service from outside the U.S., you understand your information may be transferred to and processed in the U.S. and other countries.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new "Last updated" date and, for material changes, provide additional notice through the app or by email. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
